Dr. Geo Espinosa’s “NPAT” Treatment Program for Prostatitis

What Is the “NPAT” Treatment Program?

The “NPAT” Treatment Program for Prostatitis is a treatment program that involves several natural and alternative therapies for chronic prostatitis/chronic pelvic pain syndrome (CP/CPPS). Dr Geo’s prostatitis treatment program is a holistic approach that recognizes that pain and chronic pelvic discomfort are grounded in lifestyle, diet, nutrition, and other factors that lie outside the prostate that may contribute to chronic tension.

NPAT stands for:

  • Natural treatments (ALCAT, elimination diets, and wheat-free diets)
  • Phytotherapy (pollen and quercetin together with probiotics)
  • Alternative treatments (acupuncture, prostate massage, pelvic rehabilitation and therapy)
  • Total body (exercise, chronic stress management, lifestyle)

The NPAT treatment program was developed by Dr. Geo Espinosa, a naturopathic urologist. Dr. Espinosa is the Director of the Integrative Urology Center and the former Director of Clinical Trials at Columbia University. Dr. Geo maintains a full time naturopathic urology practice which is 100% focused on treating men’s prostate health disorders including prostate cancer, benign prostatic hyperplasia, prostatitis and pelvic disorders.

NPAT Dr. Geo Prostatitis Treatment Program

Dr. Espinosa developed NPAT to specifically focus on pelvic tension because many chronic prostatitis causes stem from problems that take place outside of the prostate and elsewhere in the body. About 50% of CP/CPPS cases are due to tension in the pelvic floor muscles and can even stem from stress and emotional health problems, pelvic floor disorders, chronic tension disorders, and inflammation from other places in the body. Immune disorders and allergies (such as food intolerances) also play a role, and that is why a well-rounded whole-body approach to diagnosis and treatment can help CPPS patients to reduce inflammation.

How NPAT works is a health care provider individually analyzes each patient’s symptoms to form a complete treatment program that uses acupuncture, pelvic rehabilitation and therapy, trigger point release, phytotherapy (quercetin and pollen extract), stress management, and other natural remedies, depending on the symptoms.

The Dr Geo Prostatitis Treatment Program—Does It Work?

How does the program work? Patients who follow Dr. Geo’s program learn what is causing their symptoms and employ treatments for those causes. Each patient’s treatment might vary, but patients will generally employ several different natural and alternative therapies. These may include:

  • Acupuncture;
  • Phytotherapy with Pollen and Quercetin;
  • Probiotics;
  • Pelvic therapy;
  • Stress management;
  • Prostate massage;
  • Physical therapy; and/or
  • Diet analysis and elimination

For example, a patient may follow a diet for prostatitis, avoiding foods that cause inflammation in the body while also using phytotherapy and other supplements. Patients whose prostatitis may be related to stress or emotional health might also look to reduce stress in their lives by employing stress-reduction exercises they find helpful: perhaps tai chi, yoga, or meditation. Still, other patients with pelvic flood disorders and chronic tension may benefit from other alternative physical therapy types of alternative treatments like trigger point release therapy, biofeedback, or targeted high-frequency stimulationAcupuncture and reflexology may be useful as well to some patients where appropriate and probiotics are usually employed to restore gut bacteria to promote immune health. Patients needing advanced pelvic floor therapy are often referred to specialists such as those that employ the Renew XY Program for Men®.

Even though each patient who follows Dr. Geo’s “NPAT” CPPS treatment program may have a slightly different course, based on their symptoms, generally the patients will all have in common that they follow a variety of treatments specific to their own diagnosis. A multimodal approach to prostatitis is the most successful treatment program, and that is why Dr. Geo’s “NPAT” CPPS treatment program works so well as a natural treatment approach where other traditional treatments fail to provide relief.

Uses and Side Effects of the “NPAT” Treatment Program for Prostatitis

Because each treatment is individualized in the “NPAT” Dr Geo prostatitis treatment program, the therapies may vary for each patient, depending on what is causing his symptoms. Many of the factors involve lifestyle changes that involve diet, supplements, exercise, and managing stress. All of the alternative and natural treatments in NPAT support whole body and prostate health. These treatments are not associated with the many side effects that are associated with traditional treatment such as medications.
